Antivirus --- how to install Comodo x64 on Lubuntu/Ubuntu 16.04 x64

According to the experience of the Comodo install on Lubuntu 14.04, I think it will be very simple for installing on Lubuntu 16.04 and the procedure is "to download the source from Comodo Official WebSite(# 1) next to install it".
When I do it by my thought, I get the error message that it tell me the dependence package "libssl0.9.8" loss.

In Lubuntu 16.04, the libssl1.0.0 package is installed, not include libssl0.9.8.

Maybe we can install Libssl0.9.8 on 16.04 but does not replace the older one as well, I think. That is both package can be existed on the same operating system. Then I will browse directly the package repository by using Ubuntu Package Search

To do the search package, we have to firstly set the related condition as "libssl0.9.8" keyword、Search on packages names only、"any" distribution、"any" region and so on.

To select the specific architecture as "amd64" and the latest version of the package

To click the right architecture as "amd64" and begin to download the libssl0.9.8 package
and install it by using GDebi tool.

Once the above process finish and no any error message, we will install the Comodo package again by executing the sudo dpkg -i cav-linux_x64.deb command or GDebi mode and the result is normal now.

To execute the Comodo Antivirus program, we will see a "Filesystem filter driver is not loaded!" issue error.

How to fix this problem? To download driver.tar(redirfs 0.11E12A) from "redirfs, avflt, dazuko" WebSite (# 2) next to replace the original file.

In the moment, I will update the antivirus pattern next to fix it.

To go to folder where you downloaded the driver next to replace the  /opt/COMODO/driver.tar by using the sudo mv driver.tar /opt/COMODO/driver.tar command

To change the directory by using the cd /opt/COMODO command and install it by using the sudo ./post_setup.sh command.
Please follow the interactive mode as be careful at end of licence you NEED to accept with Y and then you can add email address, and choose Language 8 and so on.

Once the process finish and no any error, we have to restart the computer next to execute the initial scanning files/folders.

So does that the Comoda Antivirus is running on Lubutu 16.04 x64 normally.

MikroTik Router --- How to add user-manager package into the RouterOS 6.37

According to the MikroTik document, the User manager is a management system that can be used for:

  •     HotSpot users;
  •     PPP (PPtP/PPPoE) users;
  •     DHCP users;
  •     Wireless users;
  •     RouterOS users.

Due to it is a separate package, this package is not installed in RouterOS by default if we log in the MikroTik Web Management by using the web browser next to click System --> Packages link.

MikroTik User Manager can be downloaded from the MikroTik web site download section .  To find the package version is the the same as the RouterOS one next to download Extra packages
.

and extract the compressed file to the safety path, we will find one file user-manager-xxx-xxx.npk

In the Winbox web environment, we will choose Files menu and Explore ... button

Select this package for uploading this file.
and Reboot it

So do that we will see it in the package list now.

Due to the default user 'admin' without password, we have to launch the MikroTik terminal for setting it.
Then we can change the password for the 'admin' user by using the /tool user-manager customer set admin password= command. (# 1)

So do that we can log on customer web interface by connecting the http://Router_IP_Address/userman URL.

Reference :
(# 1).    If we don't assign a new password for 'admin' user, the web interface cannot be login if use the empty password.

When I enable EFI setting in virtualbox 5.1.6 for installing Lubuntu 16.04 x64,
the O.S. after the installation is finished will go into EFI interactive shell, not boot into Grub normally.

How to resolve this problem?
To edit a startup.nsh script manually by using edit startup.nsh command next to add two lines as follows
FS0:
\EFI\ubuntu\grubx64.efi
Press Ctrl+S and Enter to save file and Ctrl+q to quit back to EFI shell.

To reboot OS again, the system will display the EFI shell firstly next to load Grub automatically.

Ubuntu/Lubuntu 16.04 --- How to install "free" Sophos antivirus on Lubuntu 16.04

Recently, the Lubuntu upgrading fail from 14.04 to 16.04 directly so that I have to reinstall Lubuntu 16.04 freshly. When I install Comodo antivirus by Geb Utility, it stop and tell me the libssl0.9.8 miss.
I am not sure what happen so that search Google for answer. The Lubuntu 16.04 use libsso1.0.0 by default, not libssl0.9.8. I try to find out the alternative method to install the necessary version, but the result still fail. In the moment, I will give up the Comodo antivirus install on Lubuntu 16.04, although it work nicely on Lubuntu 14.04.

The Sophos antivirus for linux is another choice but it is command line only. For downloading it from the Sophos Official WebSite, we have to fill the form to get the download link.
Once the download finish, we will extract the compressed file next to execute sudo sh ./install.sh command in terminal.
In the install process, I choose the free Sophos version based on legal usage so that it just can be used on Command Line environment.

After the installation finish, we need to install update firstly by executing sudo /op/sophos-av/bin/savupdate command.

To check status of on-access scanning

As to the related CLI command, the following list will be the important one:
To enable on-access scanning by doing sudo /opt/sophos-av/bin/savdctl enable command
To disable on-access scanning by doing sudo /opt/sophos-av/bin/savdctl disable command

To turn live protection on by doing sudo /opt/sophos-av/bin/savconfig set LiveProtection true command
To turn live protection off by doing sudo /opt/sophos-av/bin/savconfig set LiveProtection false command

To scan Volume Boot Records by doing sudo savscan -bs=/dev/sda1 command

To scan Master Boot Records by using sudo savscan -mbr command

To scan System by doing sudo savscan /  command

I need some time to realize whether its function is good and operation is friend. Maybe this content will be updated later.

RemoteApp --- How to run Windows Application on Ubuntu/Lubuntu 14.04 by WinConn and RemoteApp Tool 5.0.1.0

If we want to run Windows Application in the Linux platform, we will think whether can use WINE to do it. Due to Wine (originally an acronym for "Wine Is Not an Emulator") is a compatibility layer capable of running Windows applications on several POSIX-compliant operating systems, it is not absolutely successful for every application to run it. Whether has the alternative method to do it?
By google some information, it did have a method "RemoteApp" to get the target.
How to do it? by RemoteApp Tool and WinConn utility!

Windows Prerequisite
RemoteApp is a Microsoft technology that extends Remote Desktop Services to allow seamless display of a remote application (as if it were a native application on the local computer).

At first, we have to configure RemoteApp on Windows platform next to share some Windows Application. Usually, RemoteApps are hosted on Windows Server 2008 (and above) version besides figured out how to host them on Windows 7 (# 1).

Thanks Kim Knight built a GUI based application called RemoteAppTool so that we can be easy to enable RemoteApp function on Windows platform besides Windows 7.
RemoteApp Tool is a GUI utility that allows you to create/manage RemoteApps hosted on Windows (7, 8, 10, XP and Vista) as well as generate RDP and MSI files to use on the clients.

     RemoteApp Tool Features
  • Create and manage RemoteApps on Windows desktops and servers.
  • Generate RDP files.
  • Generate and customise MSI installers (requires free WiX Toolset installed).
  • Use a Remote Desktop Gateway.
  • Set options on RD hosts such as session timeouts.
  • Select and use icons for your apps.
     Windows Requirements
  • Microsoft .Net Framework 4 or later
  • WiX Toolset  (if you want to create MSIs)
  • Workstation:Windows XP SP3  -or-  Windows 7 Enterprise or Ultimate  -or-   Windows 8 Enterprise  -or-   Windows 10 Enterprise or Education
       -or-
  • Server:Windows Server 2008 or newer
Note: If you try to host RemoteApps on any other edition of Windows (eg Win 7/8/10 Professional or Home), the tool will run but RemoteApps will not work. The RDP client will appear to be connecting, then just disappear with no error shown.

Ubuntu Prerequisite
FreeRDP is a free implementation of the Remote Desktop Protocol (RDP) and FreeRDP v1.x can be downloaded here  if the Ubuntu does not have it available or you want the latest version of FreeRDP. (# 2)

     FreeRDP's Key Features
         RemoteFX
        Both encoder and decoder
        SSE2 and NEON optimization
        NSCodec
        RemoteApp
        Multimedia Redirection
            ffmpeg support
            Network Level Authentication (NLA)
                NTLMv2
                Certificate validation
                FIPS-compliant RDP security
Note:  the 2 key features are the support on Ubuntu for RemoteFX and RemoteApp.

Due to the FreeRDP is a command line tool, we will choose another GUI application as WinConn that will running RemoteApp via FreeRDP so simple. WinConn simplifies creation, management and desktop integration of remote windows applications on Ubuntu. WinConn uses RemoteApp technology and provides a seamless user experience with Windows Applications on Ubuntu.

     WinConn Features
  •     Create and manage remote application profiles
  •     Access local folders from remote application
  •     Local printer redirection
  •     Remote sound redirection
  •     Create desktop launcher for your applications
  •     Remote applications integrated in Unity menu
  •     Application indicator for fast app execution
  •     Import profiles, created in Remmina
  •     Import remote applications, packaged in RDP files
In the following scenario, we will introduce how to execute a Windows RemoteApp on the Ubuntu desktop.
Enable Remote Desktop function on Windows 10
In the moment, I will choose Windows 10 Enterprise version for installing the RemoteApp Tool.   In the "Control Panel\System and Security\System" dialog, we will select/click "Remote Settings" in the upper-left.
In the "System Properties" dialog, we will select "Allow remote connections to this computer" option next to click Select Users... button.
In the "Remote Desktop Users" dialog, click Add... button next to choose the UserID as authorized for remote desktop.

Execute RemoteApp Tool on Windows 10
When we make sure that Microsoft .Net Framework 4 or later has already been installed on Windows, we will download the RemoteApp Tool ,extract this compressed file and execute it directly. So does that the RemoteApp GUI will pop up now.

Publish a Windows Application on Windows 10
In the RemoteApp GUI dialog, click + button next to use Explorer to choose one program that want to publish the windows application and click Open button.
So does that all the rest of the fields in the RemoteApp Tool menu should be filled in automatically. If nothing to change. click Save button so that this application is available from Windows 10 as a Windows RemoteApp now.

        Install WinConn on Ubuntu 14.04
If the Ubuntu version (# 3) is 13.04, 13.10, 14.04 and so on, we have to install the missing dependencise next to install WinConn package.
          # sudo apt-get install freerdp-x11 gir1.2-appindicator3-0.1 gnome-user-guide libfreerdp-plugins-standard libfreerdp1 libyelp0 python-apport python-crypto python-httplib2 python-keyring python-launchpadlib python-lazr.restfulclient python-lazr.uri python-oauth python-problem-report python-secretstorage python-simplejson python-wadllib python-zope.interface yelp yelp-xsl

          # sudo dpkg -i winconn_0.2.14-1_all.deb

          Configure/Start WinConn on Ubunt 14.04
Now let's create some directory in the Linux system that we might use for any and all exchange of files to/from Ubuntu and Windows 10.    If it is not in the home directory or "Documents" directory, we have to make sure that there are READ/WRITE privileges to wherever we create it.
          # sudo mkdir -p /opt/win-remoteapp
          # sudo chmod 777 /opt/win-remoteapp

Start WinConn and click + button, the configuration setting will show up in the right panel.

Once we finish the related setting(for example: Application entry is RemoteApp Name that we just published), please remember to click Save button

After you've done this you will see a new Launcher Icon on your Ubuntu Desktop which is labeled appropriately enough… oCam
           Execute this Application
So does that oCam will launch now.

Reference:
(# 1)     You can refer to the whole process here --- how to manually edit the registry and manually create RDP files on Windows 7.
(# 2)     In Ubuntu 14.04, the FreeRDP in the Repository is v1.02 so that satisfy the prerequisite.
(# 3)     We can know which version of ubuntu or desktop environment by using the lsb_release -a command
(# 4)     RDP Wrapper Library
